The focus is on the hidden, the secretive, on sleep, dreams, and their tangled images that move us during the night. I redesigned Franz Kafka‘s novel »Die Verwandlung« (The Metamorphosis) in combination with the story »Ein Traum« (A Dream). The altered perception of the protagonist Gregor Samsa is reflected in the fragmented title, which can only be read in conjunction with the book cover. Additionally, the particularly narrow margins reinforce the oppressive feeling of Samsa‘s transformation.
Buch an Buch (Book by Book) is a collection of posters that are folded together into a booklet. The starting point is the theme of the library; as part of the semester project, we students examined our book collections. The discarded and donated books from my collection receive special attention one last time. Just as the stack of books sits in the cardboard box by the street, they are also layered over and under each other here. This creates new, random combinations of sentences, words, and writing styles. The publication was exhibited at the Leipzig Book Fair 2024.

»Neu Neu« is a music label and platform for experimental electronic music. With the continuous growth of our music collection and the fast-paced consumption of music in the age of streaming services, it can be especially valuable to engage with music consumption consciously and attentively. »Neu Neu« releases music by various artists on cassette, as analog media require more attention through their use and thus contribute to the deceleration of music listening. In my bachelor’s thesis, I designed a package for three exemplary releases, each containing a cassette and a fold-out poster with additional information about the artists.
The Summer School is a workshop format for typography and book design students, curated and moderated by Jian Haake. Through collaborative work sessions, excursions, and extensive visual research, the students explored the angles and gaps of a confusingly complex and fiercely contested urban environment. The outcome of the workshop included a custom typeface, a series of posters, and a printed publication that document fragility and wildness. The results of the workshop were presented at the Urban Jungle – Poster Exhibition Summerschool 2019.
